LRC5: A Five-Band EQ for iOS

LRC5 is an Audio Unit (AU) for iOS that functions as a five-band EQ. Developed by Neon Silicon LLC, this application serves as a container for the Audio Unit and provides documentation. It is important to note that LRC5 must be used within an Audio Unit host or Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) application.

The five-band EQ in LRC5 includes a low shelf, high shelf, and three parametric peak/cut filters. Each filter can boost or cut by 24 dB, offering a wide range of tonal adjustments. The frequency range for each filter spans from 10 Hz to 20 kHz, providing flexibility in shaping the audio signal. Additionally, the filters can be arranged in any order, allowing users to experiment with different EQ configurations.

LRC5 also offers the ability to set the "Q" factor for each filter, ranging from 0.0 to 1.0. While a value of 1.0 results in a narrow frequency band, LRC5 is not intended for surgical frequency work. Instead, its primary focus is on coloring the audio signal, adding character and warmth to the sound.

This EQ can be used in both mono-to-mono and stereo-to-stereo settings, with the requirement that the input and output channels must match. While the channels are not independent, the controls and settings are uniformly applied to all channels.
